Lentils for Bereavement

I am still with the Green lentil recipes and people have been talking about teeth and gums again:

In my humble experience - most people in the UK have good teeth and gums - however - previous generations were impacted upon by the WW2! Costly war wasn't it Gordon Brown

Mourning that this nation experienced; impacted upon the health of the nation: Mourning impacts on the iron and proteins in the body - so it is clear why the Jewish people ate lentils and eggs during a time of mourning:

Bereavement impacts on the proteins and iron in the body - and the medics discovered that people with 'gum disease' have iron deficiencies': I am fortunate to have strong gums - although my teeth have certainly been through the wars - due to life conditions:

I can't say that lentils have been big on my menu during my life - although they have always been on my menu due to curries and soups etc

Iron is also of increasing importance as cells age - so I will definitely be increasing my lentil intake to stay as healthy as possible - specially as I know that I have a weak spleen - that is also an astrological trait of my being: Lentils are good for the spleen - and I highly recommend lentils if you are or have been bereaved! Of course you may just require more iron and that's OK too

I have already posted the green lentil and bean chili burger recipe - and this recipe is for a thick filling spring soup that includes the following:

Green Lentil and Pearl Barley Soup

A handful of green lentils

A handful of pearl barley
A tin of tomatoes
2 beetroot
Clove of garlic (as much as you wish)
Paprika - large teaspoon
Oregano dried herbs - as much as you like - I tend to pick up herbs between two fingers
Rock salt and black pepper to taste

Rinse your lentils and barley thoroughly and then boil the lentils for about 10-15 minutes in a medium sized pan - add the garlic and paprika - salt and pepper

Then add the tomatoes and oregano - when the soup is thickening up and tasting good - add your chopped beetroot - simmer - until it is delicious - make sure that you have plenty of water and keep stirring it:

It has a thick consistency that could be put on rice or spaghetti - be inventive - be creative !

UPDATE

I found that this recipe impacted upon my kidneys when I woke up from sleep - so please make sure you drink plenty of water after having the lentils cooked this way;

Also the green lentils are good for people that have experienced a parting of the ways in a relationship - - as that can also be like a bereavement - mourning - and impact upon your protein and iron levels in the body:
